I have read several articles on-line on jumping on the fad of having a standing-computer station for better health. It does make sense. We burn more calories when we stand. Right? Wait let me go get some stats.
Okay, according to My Health Status I will burn 8 more calories per hour just by standing. Wait, this is like free calorie burning. If I stood for 2 hours of blog writing or work related writing per day I would burn 16 extra calories that day. In about a year I could possible lose a pound or two just by standing. Is it worth it?
You bet your Sock Monkey socks its worth it. It is really difficult to lose weight in your forties especially with a family to take care of and practically zero time to take care of yourself.
So, this afternoon during homework time I am going to rig up a standing work station in the office. It should work out pretty well going from one work station to little guy’s desk when he has a question.
Now, when we think about this, let’s think about home cooking. We stand when we cook and walk around. When we visit our favorite restaurant we are sitting on our behinds. Do you get where I am going with this…. Its lifestyle 101. If we cook healthy low-cal meals at home not only are we saving calories in our eating category we are burning calories creating the food. ( I said creating, because it sounds more interesting than cooking)
