Day 1 Dr. Fuhrman’s Six Week Holiday Challenge
My day went pretty well. We are on a short holiday and through the morning and afternoon my food choices were stellar.
We purchased breakfast items at a local market and I ate raw almonds and a banana.
For lunch I had vegetable broth with bits of carrot, I had to eat around the pasta floating amongst the vegetables, but that’s okay. I also had a garbonzo bean patty minus everything else on the plate with a big all veggie-salad.
Dinner was a whole new ball game.
We ate super late, and I was really hungry after a day of walking and standing for several hours. They ordered some nachos and a cheese plate.
And, since I run this blog on pure honesty. I had wine, cheese, a rye cracker and some raisins. In other words three no-nos and one yes. The wine was a mistake, because it fogged me into making even more mistakes during dinner. I will not bore you with my sad, sad choices but I will say reflecting on this whole mess this morning is helping.
The scary part of today is the dinner is a dreaded buffet. Absolutely the worse case scenario for a foodie trying to eat at optimal health. Thank heavens for the internet so that I can plan ahead today. But to keep me safe, I am not entering that dinner hungry and thirsty. I am going to eat and apple and drink a bottle of water an hour before dinner. Then, to keep me motivated, I am browsing Amazon.com today for one fun Kindle book to purchase as a tiny gift to myself if I make great choices today. I hope Dr. Fuhrman’s newest book is available in Kindle format!
Happy Monday
