Have you read Pracitcal Paleo?
Practical Paleo: A Customized Approach to Health and a Whole-Foods Lifestyle
Currently reading Practical Paleo
and enjoying it quite a bit. There is tons of detailed information on the digestive system and from my horrible
experience with antibiotics in October after my surgery I am soaking up all this good information and hoping it will save me if I have to go back in if the tumor comes back. No worries, it is benign but yet some kind of benign cancer that grows back. Every time I think about how sick I was from the “medicines” and the pain I pray for folks with hard-core breast cancer.
Anyway back to the book. It is simple to read, a little bit on the technical side, so break out the green tea and try to have the children in school while you ar trying to absorb all the information.
“Oh Give Me A Home, Where the buffalo roam…..”
The hardest part for me in all the Paleo talk, is that it is really difficult for the average Joe to afford high quality Free Range, grass fed animal products. And since the industry generally feeds these poor animals corn, I get a gut feeling that meat products from these animals will be low in nutrients and full of “corn memories”. For most folks that would be a pain, but for my husband and I not so much. You see when I married my husband, I married his weird food habits. My husband only eats birds that do not fly well, chickens and turkeys. These are the most affordable Free Range meats, but alas , grass fed is super hard to come by. So we are eating a little less meat than the program would probably like and adding high protein veggies and raw nuts.
Do you smell bacon?
But hey if you are a fan of bacon, then this book will make you super, dilly happy. Bacon is not the enemy, the meal plans make it look as if bacon is a condiment! Oh boy, do I miss bacon. But greasy meat will haunt my gut so to speak and I do not want to have to go back to the doctor for that freaking nightmare (colitis) again.
Anyway, I will know more about this Paleo sutff as the days move into the warmer parts of Spring. But, I am sleeping a little bit better and have not yet started the hard core 30 days trip.
Have a rocking day!
